The 360 Modena was launched in 1999 and was well received by industry peers. It was a radical new design and build quality was up substantially from the previous 355 model. With it’s all new 3.6L V8 producing 400hp in its sleek 3,200lb wrapper, the 360 hits 0 to 60 in just over 4.0 seconds. It’s touted for its razor-sharp steering and visceral/analog driving experience. Now that this design is cresting 20-years it still has contemporary and relevant appeal.
This Ferrari was built in May of 2000 and sold new by Ferrari Maserati of Fort Lauderdale, Florida on June 15th, 2000. It was ordered with the following factory options:
- Rear Challenge Grill
- Ferrari Scuderia Shields
- Electric Seats
- F1 Transmission
- Brake Calipers in Red
- 6-CD Changer (refitted with battery tender)
- Fire Extinguisher
The current owners purchased this Ferrari on November 13th, 2011 with just shy of 13k-miles. The previous owners had serviced the car regularly as noted on the CarFax. This owner is a local Southern California enthusiast who has a tidy collection of sports cars. He usually keeps cars for quite a while. When he bought this 360, he thought it would be a hold over until the prices for the F430s dropped. However, he fell in love with it and kept it for nearly 7-years. During his ownership, he lightly used it in fair weather, garaged it, and also serviced it regularly. Highlights of upgrades and significant maintenance include:
- Made 2-extra keys w/fobs from Ferrari
- Had the infamous “sticky buttons” issue resolved
- Integrated radar detector with built in laser
- Built in trickle charger (replaced CD changer)
- Tubi exhaust system with black ceramic coated tips
- Powdercoated wheels in satin black
- Smoke sidemarkers and turn signals
- Cam belts and fluid service (@16k-miles)
- Cam belt tensioner
- Power steering belt
- Drive belt
- Coolant pump belt and seal
- Water pump rebuild with new seals
- Motor and gearbox oil service
- Brake flush
- Coolant flush (@13k-miles)
- Replaced all 4 fuel tank roll-over valves and seal gas tank (@17k-miles)
- New Pirelli tires (@21k-miles)
- Replaced engine mounts and yearly fluid/filter service (@18.5k-miles)
- Replaced lower ball joints and rear vertical sensor (@19k-miles)
- New thermocoupler and cat temp ECU
- Major belt service and replaced tie rod ends (@19.5k-miles/2.5-years ago)
- Complete clutch kit w/throwout bearing (@20k-miles)
- New transmission mounts and rear brake pads (@20k-miles)
- Complete valve cover/cam reseal including rear main seal and spark plugs (@20k-miles)
- Oil service and new O2 sensors (@21k-miles/1-year ago)
- New battery (5/18)
In total, this current owner has invested nearly $45,000 over the past 6-years properly maintaining this 360.
This 360 is in very nice condition and clearly has not been abused. The paint looks great with minimal signs of use. The front was repainted due to typical rock chips. There is some clear bra remaining on the edges of the front bumper (see pic). The rest of the paint appears to be mostly original. The 18” factory wheels show no rash and are wearing near new correct Pirelli tires. The front and rear brakes have around 75% life remaining. All the glass is original including the windshield. The interior is equally as nice and shows minimal wear. The leather seats have no tears or cracks and just light wear on the driver seat exit bolster. The headliner, door panels, and carpet all are fresh. The dash has no cracks. All the gauges operate properly. All buttons function as they should. All the typical sticky buttons have been professionally corrected. The radio works and the A/C blows very cold.
This 360 Modena is a joy to drive and probably one of the most driver friendly Ferraris I’ve experienced. It starts easily and holds a smooth idle. The F1 gearbox shifts smooth, whether you are in full auto mode or sport mode. Each shift is crisp and quick with no slipping (thanks to the fresh clutch assembly). Power is direct and the throttle has a nice response. Of course, the sound is intoxicating and probably one of the best sounding V8 Ferrari motors. The brakes have excellent initial bite with no fading or pulling. The steering is light and quick and it tracks nicely down the road. This is a wonderfully balanced Ferrari that would be a joy on long tours, jaunts through the mountains, or even for daily use. These cars are at their all-time lowest price and an incredible value. Plus, all the significant services have recently been performed.
California registration is current and paid through September of 2018. It also just passed CA smog inspection.
This Ferrari comes with owner’s manuals/books (owner’s manual is for spyder), 2-extra keys w/fobs, factory tools, car cover, 360 computer mouse, factory flat tire repair kit, trickle charger, and fire extinguisher.
