With its launch,  the 997 Porsche was widely recognized by the automotive world as truer to the original 911 design.  The pronounced fenders and separate headlight buckets made the car look like a natural continuation of the 993 Porsches.  Sales on the used market have shown their popularity.  Furthermore, by the 2006 production run, Porsche used the “M97” engine, which has been regarded as far more reliable than the previous model.  With 355hp and tipping the scales at just over 3,100lbs, this model 911 S is athletic, analog, and fun to drive.

This Carrera S was built in October of 2005 and sold new on December 11th, 2005 by a local Los Angeles area Porsche dealer.  It was tastefully ordered with the following factory options:

  • Silver-faced stopwatch
  • 3-spoke multifunction steering wheel, smooth leather
  • 12-way electrical seat incl. lumbar support (left and right)
  • Wheel caps with colored Porsche crest
  • Seat memory, left
  • Sport Chrono package plus
  • Bose high end sound system
  • Leather covered steering wheel airbag
  • Black mats – Porsche lettering

The total MSRP was over $87,920.

The first owner was a local SoCal resident who primarily serviced this 911 S at his local Porsche dealer.  Services were regular and routine scheduled maintenance such as oil services and brakes.  This owner kept the car for 8-years/50k-miles before selling it to the current Orange County enthusiast in February of 2013.  In fact, we helped him find the car and coordinate inspection.  This owner has been a long time Porsche 911 enthusiast.  He used this car as a part time commuter and weekend touring vehicle.  It was always garaged and frequently serviced at some of SoCal’s top independent Porsche specialists including Vision Motorsports of Laguna Hills, California.  In fact, over the past 6-years/32k-miles he has invested nearly $15k in proper and regular service.  Highlights of the work performed includes:

  • Regular oil services/inspections (most recent: 9/18 @80k-miles)
  • Air oil separator (5/18 @ 78k-miles)
  • Major service and misc repairs (12/17 @ 75k-miles)
  •             Oil, air, and cabin filters
  •             Spark plugs
  •             Front and rear brake pads, rotors, and sensors
  •             Factory radio amplifier
  •             New key/programmed
  •             Windshield washer pumper
  • Alternator (9/16 @ 69k-miles)
  • Gateway control module
  • Clutch kit and slave cylinder (12/15 @ 58k-miles)
  • Water pump (1/14 @ 53k-miles)

This Porsche is in excellent original condition.  It is clear that it was always garaged and well cared-for.   A paint meter was used to verify originality (see pics).  The glass is all original, including the windshield.  There are no significant chips or cracks.  All the trim, rubber, and lenses look great with no cracks or signs of age.  The factory 18” wheels have no major blemishes and are wearing Michelin tires with about half-life.  The front and rear brakes have over 75% life remaining.

The interior looks equally as nice with hardly any signs of wear.  The leather seats have no tears or cracks and just the lightest wear on the driver exit bolster.  The rear seats, carpet, door panels, headliner, and dash all look perfect.  All the buttons, gauges, and other electric functions work.  The A/C system blows cold.

The driving experience is wonderfully analog with very direct responses to driver inputs.  The car starts easily with no excessive smoking and holds a smooth idle.  Power is immediate and linear with no hesitations as it builds revs.  The brakes have a nice initial bite with no fading or pulling.  The clutch feels great and the transmission shifts smoothly with no grinding or slipping.  Handling is crisp and precise.  The car tracks straight.

California registration is paid through December of 2019 and it passed CA’s strict smog/emissions test.

This 997 S includes all of the owner’s manuals/books, maintenance book, tools/tire repair kit, wheel lock, most service records, and an extra master key.

Special Note

We appreciate the countless calls from brokers and dealers. As much as we would love to quickly “wholesale” this car to industry partners so they can make a quick profit, the car is on consignment (as are all of our offerings) and the owners have the final say.

If you have actually taken the time to read this far in our detailed description, I can’t imagine there are any questions you may have. However, if there is something I missed or you would prefer to hear the warm sound of a human voice (mine) reiterating the research I’ve provided above, I would be happy to help.

If you put our company name in Google (AutoKennel®) you will see that we have been a long-time part of the Porsche community and have worked extremely hard to earn the positive reputation you will find. Feel free to reach out to our local PCA chapter (www.pcaocr.org) and the board members are familiar with us. Most in the club have known us for most of our 25-year membership involvement. Of course, if you would like more references, you will find countless testimonials on our website as well.
