I used to think Porsche’s “Anniversary” editions were a bit of a sham.
Porsche’s recipe for a limited “Anniversary” edition was always pretty simple. Typically at the end of a model production run, they bundled a bunch of options together, slapped on a badge, maybe stitched someone’s signature into the headrest and sprayed it in a color that was forgotten. Then voila, you have a new-ish product the dealers can sell.
However, the 50th Anniversary 911 was created in reverse. This model was launched at the beginning of the 991 production run…huh?! It’s like baking a cake before you’ve mixed the ingredients. This was a huge milestone for 911 production (thankfully they didn’t offer it in gold) and it deserved to be celebrated with something special. Well, the team at Weissach nailed it. The 50th Anniversary is a highly optioned GTS (one of my personal favorite models of the 991 generation) in one of the most stunning appointed color combinations ever. This is the 3rd one I’ve experienced, and I never get tired of sitting in this scrumptious interior. Oh, and those gauges mesmerize me.
I’m not alone here. Many of my fellow air-cooled enthusiasts gush over this model. Even Motor Trend’s Jonny Lieberman just published an engaging article titled:
The Best 991-Gen Porsche 911s I’ve Ever Driven
The 50th Anniversary made #2 for Jonny and I bet if it came with the 6-speed GT manual, it would easily be on top.

A mere 1,963 of these limited 50th Anniversary 911s were built for the world. Unlike most of Porsche’s anniversary editions that are celebrated at the end of a production run, this 50th was introduced towards the beginning of the 991’s production. It was created by famed Porsche designer Tony Hatter who was also one of the co-designers of the 993 and recent 935. This Anniversary Editions were based on the GTS model. Unique features of this special edition 911 include:
- Wide body and rear wheel drive (44mm wider than 911 S)
- Unique 911-50 badging throughout vehicle with personal unit identification number
- Fuchs retro/classic design 20” wheels
- 10mm lower sport suspension stance
- Green gauges with white pointers and silver caps like the original 911
- Leather 14-way sport seats with houndstooth inserts and 50th stitching in headrests
- Contrasting silver stitching throughout interior
- 3.8L 911 S direct injection variocam engine
- Porsche Power Kit producing 430hp and 325lb ft torque
- Sport Chrono Package Plus with Dynamic engine mounts
- Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV)
- Bi-Xenon headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS)
- Two unique colors specifically for 50th: Geyser and Graphite Grey
This 50th was built on February 7th, 2014 and sold new by Porsche of Scottsdale, Arizona on April 30th, 2014. It was nicely optioned with the following equipment:
- 911 50th Anniversary Edition
- Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK)
- Pedals and footrest in aluminum
- Bi-Xenon headlights in black including PDLS
- 20-inch Sport Classic wheels
- Ornamental Porsche crest
The MSRP was $131,445. Clear bra was installed by the dealer and covers the entire front end of the car (hood, bumper, front fenders, and mirrors).
The first owner lived in Scottsdale. She serviced this 911 at the selling Porsche dealer on a regular basis. She kept the car just under 2-years/4k-mile before trading it back in to Porsche of North Scottsdale. It went through the Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) process and was sold to the current Southern California enthusiast on October 17th, 2016 with around 4,200-miles and an extended warranty that expired in April of 2020. The current owner is a longtime enthusiast who has a collection of late model and vintage Porsches. He used to spend more time in the UK and is now moving back full time to Southern California. He just purchased something more practical for his SoCal lifestyle and asked us to help find the next care-taker for this 50th Anniversary 911. During his care, he serviced it at the Porsche dealer in Newport Beach as well as just completing a major service in February of 2020 at Sleeper’s Speed Shop in Costa Mesa, CA. This service was nearly $4,000 and included the following items:
- Oil service
- Air and cabin filters
- Spark plugs
- Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires mounted and balanced
- Brake fluid flush
- Decklid shocks
The exterior of this special 911 is in near new condition. There are hardly any signs of use. The entire front is protected by clear bra. We took paint meter readings to verify the paint is all original. All the glass is original as well. The wheels are in good shape with a few spots of light curb rash. They are wearing Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires that were installed on 2/18/20 and are at near full tread. The brakes have over 75% life remaining. All exterior lights and rear wing function properly.
The interior is equally as fresh with no stains, odors, or any other blemish. The seats look great with no excessive wear. The carpet, door panels, headliner, and dash all look new. All the gauges, buttons, and other controls all function properly. This example looks and smells like new.
This 50th is a rocket ship and much quicker than most expect. The acceleration is intoxicating as well as very manageable. The brakes have a wonderful progressive feel with no fading or pulling. The steering is precise and very communicative. This is a wonderful package that is subtle, but you can tell is something special. It is an absolute blast to drive. Whether you are just commuting or romping through the canyons, it definitely makes you smile. The whole package inspires confidence.
California registration is paid through March of 2021.
This Porsche comes with two main keys, the owner’s manuals/books, Porsche COA, original laminated window sticker, Porsche satin-style indoor car cover with tote bag, factory flat repair kit, wheel lock, and the factory tool kit.

We appreciate the countless calls from brokers and dealers. As much as we would love to quickly “wholesale” this car to industry partners so they can make a quick profit, the car is on consignment (as are all of our offerings) and the owners have the final say.
If you have actually taken the time to read this far in our detailed description, I can’t imagine there are any questions you may have. However, if there is something I missed or you would prefer to hear the warm sound of a human voice (mine) reiterating the research I’ve provided above, I would be happy to help.
