Many regard the 996 GT3 as one of the purest modern-era Porsches. It is a true iteration of the original 1973 Carrera RS: lightweight chassis with normally aspirated 380hp. 959 units were delivered to the U.S. and only 11 were ordered in Polar Silver Metallic. What is unique about these models is their race bred Mezger engines (including dry sump systems = no IMS bearings), highly tuned coil over suspensions, seam-welded chassis, wind tunnel tested aerodynamic aids and lightweight features. This is one of the first true sport purpose built 911s delivered to the U.S. since pre 1968. Finding one that has not been abused, low miles, original, unmodified, and well serviced is becoming increasingly difficult.
This GT3 was built on July 1st, 2004 and sold new on March 20th, 2005 by McKenna Porsche of Norwalk, California. It was originally delivered to Sud’s of Peoria, the Porsche dealer in Peoria, Illinois. They traded it when new to McKenna as they had a local Southern California owner interested. It was tastefully optioned with the following factory equipment:
- Polar silver metallic
- Black leather interior
- Xenon headlamp package
- Wheel caps with colored crests
- Cruise control
- A/C with full climate control
- Instrument panel in exterior color
- Thicker steering wheel
- Electric sport seats – left and right
- Storage compartment lid with GT3 logo
- Black floor mats with Porsche lettering
- Sport seat backs painted to match (Polar Silver)
- Porsche crest in headrest
- Seat belts in Maritime Blue
- Custom tailoring
The MSRP was $113,340, which would be approximately $192,879 in today’s dollars.

This 996 GT3 is in exceptional condition as you would expect from a low-mile example. The car appears to have never been tracked, meticulously maintained, and always garaged. The paint looks near perfect with minimal signs of use. All the paint is original as verified with a paint meter. The front nose (bumper, hood, front fenders, side mirrors, headlights, and lower rockers) is recently protected with PPF (paint protection film). It was installed by one of the highest regarded installers in the country. It is visually imperceptible. The glass is all original, including the windshield, and wearing the proper factory stampings. There are no visible scratches, chips, or other blemishes on the glass. The front plastic spoiler lip was damaged by a driveway and fell off as they are a wear item. The original wheels have no major curb rash and are wearing Michelin tires installed new on 6/21 (date stamped late 2019 to early 2021) with 75% tread life. The brakes appear to be fresh as well with more than 75% life remaining. All the exterior lights work and the lenses are in good condition.
The interior is equally as nice with minimal signs of use. The leather sport seats are in great shape with no tears or significant wear signs. There’s some very light driver exit bolster wear. The painted backs are a rare option and have no major scuffs. They’ve recently been paint corrected and ceramic coat sealed. The Alcantara headliner looks new as do the carpet and door panels. There are some light plastic threshold scuffs on the driver side entry. The dash is perfect with no issues. All the gauges work as do the power windows, mirrors, interior lights, and A/C system. The Porsche Classic radio was nicely installed and has the Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connective feature. The car still smells new. It’s one of the nicest 996-era interiors I’ve ever seen.
This GT3 drives fantastically. These GT3s are hands-down my favorite water-cooled 911. They are the closest interpretation of a vintage early long hood 911. They are more akin to a cup car with carpet and air conditioning rather than a lightened street 911. This GT3 performs fantastically. It starts easily and holds a smooth idle. The power is very direct and the motor feels like it can rev forever. There is no hesitation or any other acceleration issues. The brakes have a tremendous bite with no fading or pulling. The handling is crisp and a bit nervous, which is common with GT3s. They have seam welded bodies making them quite stiff so you feel (and hear) everything. Because these cars were darlings at the track, not many of them survived in this level of condition.
This GT3 is currently registered in Utah, but will pass CA smog once the stock exhaust is reinstalled.
This GT3 comes with 3 keys (2 main keys and 1 valet key), owner’s manuals with vinyl case, original maintenance booklet with stamps, original window sticker, 12+ years of service history, wheel lock socket, factory tool kit, factory tire repair kit, air compressor, front license plate bracket, Porsche welcome kit, front tow hook mount license plate frame, and original exhaust.**
*The extra set of HRE wheels with near new Michelin tires is available for $6,500 extra. Buyer is responsible for shipping and handling.
**Cargraphics exhaust system will not pass California smog. For CA buyers, we will swap to the stock exhaust, which the buyer will be responsible for the costs associated. Buyer is also responsible for shipping and handling of extra exhaust.
