2006 Ferrari F430 F1 Berlinetta Daytona Seats Fresh Clutch

What’s not to love about 500hp, 0-60 in 3.6 seconds, and nearly 200mph top speed all wrapped in a timeless Pininfarina design?  How about a more reliable and less expensive car to own than previous Ferrari models.  The biggest difference is that these are one of the first V8 mid-engine Ferraris to finally get rid of those pesky timing belts and get a proper timing chain.

This Ferrari was built in October of 2005 and received on January 4th, 2006 by the Ferrari dealer in Littleton, Colorado.  It was ordered with the following factory options:

  • Brake calipers in red
  • Pre-wiring for battery charging with power cut off switch
  • Daytona style seats
  • Electric operated seats
  • Scuderia Ferrari shields on fenders
  • Challenge Stradale style wheels
  • CD Changer

The first owner was in Los Angeles, California.  He took delivery on February 20th, 2006.  This owner only kept the car about a year before it was sold to the next owner in El Paso, Texas on February 7th, 2007 with 2,000 miles.  This owner ended up being the longest owner on record.  He kept the car for over 13 years before selling it to the current owner at the end of last year.  In the last few years, this primary owner moved to San Diego, California, and took this F430 with him.  He serviced it primarily at Ferrari & Maserati of San Diego, California.  In August of 2018 with 13,413 miles, he had the Ferrari dealer perform a routine service as well as mounting new Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires.  He serviced it again in February of 2019 as well as October of 2019.  Just before he sold the car to the current owner, he had Ferrari of San Diego perform another service.  The major service was done in October of 2019 and included the following:

  • Replaced Yah Sensor and tested ECU system
  • New clutch kit
  • New engine flywheel
  • Thrust bearings
  • Replaced transmission seals
  • Complete sensor kit
  • Oil intake flange kit and bearing support flange
  • Oil service
  • E-diff control valve
  • Replace F1 pump

The total for these services was $20,000.

The current owner is a local Orange County enthusiast who purchased this F430 on September 21st, 2020 with 15,632 miles.  Over the past 14 months, he’s added 2k miles.  He primarily uses it as a weekend driver to help escape from the daily grind.  He enjoys driving on our local Orange County backroads.  With the help of a dealer/factory-trained Ferrari technician, he’s had the following services recently performed:

  • Complete RH fuel pump
  • Front brake pads
  • Flush all fluids
  • Oil service (04/21)
  • New battery
  • Inspected bleeder screws on shift actuator as well as adjusted and tightened
  • Full paint correction and ceramic coating

This F430 is in excellent condition and well cared for.  The exterior looks great and is all original.  The paint has been verified original with a paint meter.  There are minimal signs of use with some tiny rock chips on the front nose from normal use, which have been touched up.  Part way up the hood and front fenders the body is protected with clear bra.  The glass is all original, including the windshield and wearing the proper factory stampings.  There are no significant scratches or other blemishes on the glass.  All the exterior lights work and the lenses are in good shape.  The factory Challenge Stradale wheels have no major curb rash and are wearing near new Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires with 2k miles on them.  The front brake pads are new and the rears have just under half life remaining.

The interior is also very nice and gently used.  The leather Daytona seats show minimal signs of wear with no tears, rips, or cracking.  The headliner and door panels are also in good shape.  The dash has no cracks or other blemishes.  All the gauges, windows, and mirrors work properly.  The A/C system blows cold and the original radio also works.  The black plastic bits are experiencing the typical sticky syndrome that plagues most cars from this era.

This Ferrari drives fantastically and is even better to drive than I remember.  It starts easily and holds an even idle.  The throttle response is excellent and it pulls hard throughout the rev range with no hesitation or smoking.  The F1 transmission shifts smoothly and operates properly.  There is no slipping or other issues thanks to all the parts being just replaced.  The brakes have a strong initial bite with no fading or pulling.  Handling is crisp and precise with confidence-inspiring turn in.  The car tracks straight as well.

This Ferrari comes with all the owner’s manuals/books, original service/maintenance book, 1 key, factory tools, factory flat tire repair kit, Ferrari logo floor mats, and original black floormats.

I’m not that guy.  I swear, I’m not.

But look at that profile. Smell that rich buttery leather. It’s like a Prada driving loafer reincarnated as a sportscar.

When I open the door, it comes to life with strange whirring noises like a French Bulldog snorting in anticipation of being stroked. I press the start button and that glorious 32 valve flat plane crank V8 jewel of an engine nestled behind my shoulder blades barks to life.

I repeat the mantra, “I’m not that guy, I’m not that guy.” The lustful pull is just too strong. That high-pitched engine shriek is like a siren song. I’m drawn deep into my desire to go fast…very fast.

Although it’s not the fastest of the day and is nearly considered a classic, I find myself completely intoxicated by the overall theater of this F430.

Ok, I surrender to my desires. But, hell no, I’m not buying those goofy red logo shoes. Nope, I’ll just make my own.
