The second-generation Porsche 911/997 (Gen 2) got several updates and improvements. These included a new, more powerful engine thanks to direct injection. The 3.8-liter Carrera S got 385 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. Also, prior issues with the IMS bearing were eliminated as these new motors did not have that bearing. New styling of the lights helped finish off the already improved 997 looks. Is this the modern-day version of the G50 Carrera? I think history will show these to be some of the most reliable and desirable 911s ever built, as well as being the last of the analog generation.
This 997.2 was built on June 3rd, 2010, and sold new on August 18th, 2010, by Stevinson Imports of Littleton, Colorado. This example was nicely optioned with the following:

The first owner lived in Denver, Colorado, and kept this Carrera S for 7 years, adding 7,100 miles. It was serviced regularly at the selling Porsche dealer, including a major 40k mile spark plug service on 9/16 @ 7,009 miles. It was then sold by the original selling Porsche dealer as a Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) car on May 8th, 2017, with 7,504 miles to Shawn Mechelke from Woodbury, Minnesota. Shawn kept this 911 for the next 6 years and added another 6k miles.
He too used his local Porsche dealer for all service needs, which included:
- Annual oil service, PDK service, inspection (9/17 @ 9,721 miles)
- Annual oil service and inspection (10/18 @ 11,293 miles)
- Annual oil service, brake flush, and inspection (11/19 @ 11,883 miles)
- Annual oil service, inspection, and new Michelin tires (5/21 @ 12,524 miles)
- Annual oil service and inspection (7/23 @ 13,138 miles)
Shawn sold this 997.2 C2S on July 15th, 2023, with 13,157 miles to the current Orange County owner. We’ve helped sell Porsches for this owner over the past 6 years, and he is meticulous about his care for his cars, while also only purchasing low-mileage/original paint examples. This 911 is no exception. For the last couple of years, he’s added only 2,700 miles of light weekend use.
In February of this year, at 15,721 miles, he had Pacific German of Laguna Hills, California, perform a major service, which included:
- PDK transmission service
- New oil pan
- Differential fluid flush
- Clean K&N Air filter
- Oil service
- New Spark plugs
- Cabin air filter
- Brake fluid flush
- Mount and balance new Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires
- 4 wheel digital alignment
- New water pump
- Coolant system flush
- Drive belt and tensioner
- Total service – $7,175
The exterior of this Carrera S is exceptional and what you would expect from a low-mile, garaged example that’s been obsessively cared for. The paint appears to be all original and verified with a paint meter. The front bumper has PPF (paint protection film) still applied. It was on the leading edge of the car as well, but that was recently removed. There are minimal signs of use with no significant chips, scratches, or other blemishes. The glass is original and wearing all the proper factory stampings with no significant chips or blemishes. The factory Carrera Sport wheels have no major curb rash and are wearing new/full tread Michelin 4S tires. The brakes have about 75% or more life remaining.
The interior is equally as immaculate. It looks and smells new. There are hardly any signs of use. The leather is barely creased. The sport seats have no tears or other blemishes. The rear seats look unused. The carpet, door panels, and headliner all look new. The dash is perfect. All the gauges work. All electric functions, including windows, mirrors, sunroof, A/C, interior lights, and exterior lights, work properly.
This Carrera S drives like new. Everything feels tight and responsive. It starts easily, and in Comfort mode, it’s docile enough to use daily. In Sport or Sport Plus mode, it is more aggressive in both handling and transmission shifts, making it a competent back-road weapon. The handling is crisp, yet compliant enough to absorb highway imperfections. The brakes have an excellent initial bite with no fading or pulling when applying firm braking. The PDK transmission shifts effortlessly between gears. The power is linear, and the car pulls strong throughout the rev range. I couldn’t find one fault with the driving experience.
California registration is paid to July 2025, and it passes our strict smog/emissions testing.
