The “Turbo S” has always been saved for the flagship Porsche 911.  Yes, there are GT variants that might be faster on a closed course; but the sacrifice is a raw racecar for the street.  This doesn’t work in most people’s daily lives.  Porsche soon realized that there were customers that wanted it all: performance and luxury.  Most manufacturers don’t really understand what it takes to balance these two criteria.  However, Porsche has nailed it.  With 530 hp and 516 lb ft of torque, the Turbo S can launch to 60mph in a scant 3.1 seconds.  Yet, it still wears full leather interior with all the luxury features you could ever want.  Paired with Porsche’s highly acclaimed PDK transmission, the Turbo S can go 195 mph or cruise on the freeway and get 25 mpg.

This Porsche was built in March of 2012 and delivered new by a Porsche dealer in Houston, Texas on May 5th, 2012.  Although these cars come with a huge list of standard features including ceramic brakes (PCCB) and 7-Speed PDK transmission, this Turbo S was also ordered with the following additional options:

  • Heated front seats
  • Adaptive Sport Seats with driver memory
  • Black Full Leather
  • Porsche Crest embossed on headrests
  • 19” Center lock RS Spyder wheels
  • Wheels painted in exterior color
  • Headlight cleaning system cover painted exterior color
  • Clear taillights
  • Fuel tank cap in aluminum look
  • Basalt Black Metallic paint

The final MSRP was $175,465.

The first owner lived in Sugar Land, Texas, and kept this Turbo S for a couple of years and added 5k miles.  It was eventually sold to our local Porsche dealer here in Newport Beach, California in April of 2015 with 9,600 miles.  They eventually sold it on July 24th, 2015 with 9,662 miles.  The next owner lived in Seaside, California.  This owner continued to service the car at either Newport Beach Porsche or McKenna Porsche.  They serviced it a half-dozen times at the dealer during their ownership.  This owner kept the car for nearly 3-years and added about 15k miles before it was sold to the current Los Angeles owner in March of 2018 with around 26k miles.

For the past 4+ years, the current owner has used this Turbo S as primarily his part-time daily driver.  It was never abused or tracked.  It was always garaged and serviced regularly at TLG Auto in North Hollywood, California.  Services performed at TLG include the following:

  • Oil service and post purchase inspection (10/18 @ 28,830 miles)
  • New battery (4/19)
  • Oil service (2/20 @ 33,768 miles)
  • Oil service/general inspection (3/21 @ 36,807 miles)
  • Water pump and drive belt (4/21 @ 36,952 miles)
  • Install rear wing electric lift retrofit kit (3/22 @ 41k miles)

The following upgrades have been installed:

  • Gemballa front bumper
  • Tinted windows
  • Electric rear wing kit
  • Carbon side intake vents
  • Carbon rear underside diffuser
  • Smoked headlight and taillight lenses
  • PPF on front bumper, hood, front fenders, headlights, and side mirrors
  • Upgraded Bluetooth stereo with reverse/backup camera
  • GT2 RS-look carbon fiber and leather steering wheel
  • Sprint Booster control for increased acceleration/throttle pedal response
  • Sharkwerks center muffler replacement exhaust (fits to stock cats and passes CA smog)

Not installed but available for purchase with this Turbo S:

  • *Original stock front bumper with lower chin spoiler and underside plastic liners
  • *Carbon Fiber rear wing replacement
  • *Sharkwerks ECU tune kit (never installed on car)

The exterior is in excellent shape and looks great considering the age/miles.  There are no significant blemishes that stand out.  The paint is mostly original with the exception of the hood and right front fender.  The previous owner had a parking lot incident with a shopping cart on the right front corner of the car.  It was properly repaired and visually no difference.  The repair was done at a reputable body shop and as a result, there is a “damage” notation on Carfax®, but no accident.  The glass is all original, including the windshield and wearing the proper factory stampings.  The previous owner had the windows tinted fairly dark.  The bottom edge of the front Gemballa bumper has some scuffs from parking curbs and driveways.  Part of the PPF is rubbed off on the lower right side of the front bumper.  The rear carbon diffuser has some scratches and chips on the underside.  The original factory wheels are in great shape with no major curb rashes.  They are wearing Pirelli PZero tires that are dated the end of 2017 and installed in 2018.  The front tires have about half life left and the rears are just over a third life left.  The ceramic brakes show no signs of age or wear and have around 75% life remaining.  The soft top is in excellent shape with no tears or rips and just small wrinkles and a couple of very light rub areas.

The interior is even cleaner and indicative of a lower mile/well cared for example.  The leather adaptive sport seats show minimal signs of use.  There are no tears, rips, or other significant blemishes.  The rear seats look new as do the soft top headliner, door panels, carpet, and dash.  Something leaked in the glove box and created a stain on the felt on the rear inside.  All the gauges, switches, and other electrical functions work properly.  The upgraded stereo system sounds great, easily connects to your mobile device, and has a clear reverse camera.  The A/C system blows cold and the full power convertible top operates smoothly.

This Turbo S is impressively quick for a 10-year-old Porsche.  It’s surprising how much power it has and how fast the revs build.  Shifting is lightning quick.  The brakes have tremendous bite with no fading or pulling.  Plus, they leave minimal brake dust.  Handling is precise and predictable.  It’s easy to drive too fast in this Turbo S.  However, unlike the next generation Turbo S, this one still has a great visceral vibe to it and never lets you forget what you’re driving.

California registration is paid to the end of July 2023 and it passes California’s strict smog test.

This Porsche comes with 3 main keys, original owners manuals, tool kit, wheel removal tool, flat tire kit, air compressor, factory wind deflector, heavy duty car cover, and recent service receipts from TLG.

*Available for purchase separately are the front bumper with plastic liner parts, front chin spoiler, CF rear wing, and Sharwerks OBDII port tune kit.

I think I’m a horsepower retrophiliac.

I mostly drive old cars. For years, the thought of daily driving 300+ hp/sub 5- second 0 to 60mph cars was as mind blowing as Roger Bannister running a sub 4-minute mile.

The fact that this Turbo S has 530hp, can hit 60mph in just 3.1 seconds, and has a top speed of 195mph all with the top down is unfathomable. Plus, it takes less effort to drive than operating a moped.

With these performance numbers, it’s hard to believe that this Turbo S is already a decade old. Newer ones are even faster. My 64-bit processor of a brain crashes trying to comprehend this.

I can’t even begin to grasp the acceleration and capabilities of the latest EV cars coming to market. The fact that anyone with a regular driver’s license and fair credit can simply buy and drive one of these with no formal training seems like a really bad idea.
