2012 was the final production year for the 997.2 variant of the 911. Between a global financial crisis and the launch of the new 911 body designated the 991.1, production numbers for the 997.2 were quite low. Who knew that a decade later, enthusiasts would look at the 997.2 as the final year of the “analog” era of the Porsche 911? The GTS variant of the 997 was launched as a 2010 model year. Only 371 GTS coupes came with manual transmissions and of those, only 95 manual 4 GTS coupes came to the U.S. 2012 model year GTS cars were only delivered as all-wheel (4 GTS) drive models.
This last year 997.2 4 GTS was built in April of 2012 and sold new on June 14th, 2012 by Porsche of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The GTS models come standard with the following:

Windows were tinted by selling the dealership before delivery to the first owner.
The total MSRP was $118,050, which is approximately $161,727.
The first owner was from Sharpsville, PA. They kept this 997.2 4 GTS for nearly 2.5 years and 5,971 miles. During their care, it was serviced regularly at the selling Porsche dealership. It went in for 4 routine services. It was then sold to another dealer in Georgia in October 2014. This dealer kept it in their showroom for the next year before selling it to the 2nd owner from Williston, Vermont on December 23rd, 2015 with 7,308 miles.
This 2nd owner was the primary owner (Carfax®️ shows 4 owners, but 2 were selling dealers). This owner kept this GTS for the next 9 years and added 26k miles. They serviced it regularly, which included 18 visits to their local Porsche specialist for routine service and maintenance. This is reflected on the Carfax®️ as well as the stamps in the maintenance booklet. Services during this owner’s care include:
- Inspection, service, two new tires, safety/emissions test (11/16 @ 11,368 miles)
- Two more tires were installed and maintenance service/inspection (5/17 @ 13,316 miles)

This 2nd owner sold this GTS to a friend/client of ours on July 16th, 2024 with 33,604 miles. This owner owns a dealership in Canada and purchased this car to sell at his dealership. However, he felt it would be better if it stayed here in the U.S., so he asked us to help find the next caretaker. We’ve sold nearly a dozen 997.2 GTS Porsches over the past decade. They truly are special cars with limited numbers produced. When they were new and sitting on dealer lots (similar to the old RS America Porsches), enthusiasts and collectors had no idea that these were soon to become the end of a desirable era. With combined good looks, known reliability, and analog performance characteristics, they are truly special 911s.
This Carrera 4 GTS is in excellent condition and was well cared for by its prior owners. The paint on all the panels appears to be original and the metal panels were verified with a paint meter. There are a few minor nicks here and there that have been professionally touched up. The lower part of the driver door has the most amount of paint nicks that had to be touched up. There are holes on the front bumper from where the front license plate bracket was previously mounted. The lower black plastic (front spoiler lip and side rockers) has some minor scrapes from parking curbs. The glass appears to be all original, including the windshield, and wearing the proper factory stampings. There are no major chips, cracks, or scratches. The factory center-lock wheels are wearing their original finish and are in good shape with just a minor curb rash on the right rear wheel. They are wearing Bridgestone tires that were installed new 4 years/8,800 miles ago. The fronts have just under half-life and rears are just over a third-life remaining. The brake pads appear to be nearly new with almost full-life and minimal to zero lips on the rotors.
The interior is equally as nice and shows minimal wear commensurate with the mileage and age. The majority of GTS cars came with Alcantara over much of the interior (seat inserts, shifter, hand brake, steering wheel, etc.). However, this one was fortunately ordered with all leather, which holds up much better over time. The front seats have no major cracks or tears and show minimal (typical) wear on the driver exit bolsters. The rear seats look unused. The headliner is in great shape with no stains, tears, or sagging issues. The carpet has no stains or heavy wear marks. The floor mats are in good shape with just a bit more wear on the driver-side. The door panels have no major issues, just some mild threshold scuffs. The dash is perfect with no cracks or warping and all the gauges work properly. All the electric/power functions and interior lights work.
This Carrera 4 GTS drives great. Everything feels tight and responsive. It starts easily and once at operating temperature, it pulls hard throughout the rev range with no hesitation. The sport exhaust sounds great with a deep grumble, but no droning at freeway speeds. The transmission shifts smoothly through all the gears with no grinding and the clutch engages properly with no slipping. The brakes have an excellent bite with no fading or pulling. The car tracks straight and is compliant enough over uneven surfaces, while confidence inspiring on a turns.
The DME (vehicle computer, which logs engine revs) was checked and there were no significant overrevs.
Level 1 (redline – 7,300 rpm to 7,500 rpm): 1.5 seconds total
Level 2: (7,500 rpm to 7,700 rpm) 0.09 seconds total
Level 3: 0
Level 4: 0
Level 5: 0
Level 6: 0
Furthermore, this GTS has averaged only 24.5mph over its entire life, which is one of the lowest I’ve seen. It’s barely been driven.
This vehicle will pass California’s strict smog test.
