This owner primarily used it to go skiing just a handful of times over the last 5-years. Most of the time, he keeps it in his storage facility where it’s detailed regularly. He’s only taken it off-road once for a Jeep-sponsored event. Over the last 5-years, he serviced it at the selling dealership. This includes:
- Oil service/software update/inspection (10/16)
- Oil service/reseal rear diff cover/inspection (9/18)
- Oil service/inspection (4/19)
Furthermore, the owner has purchased different storage devices that are in the photos and included.
The exterior of this Jeep looks as if it’s been barely used. There are no significant blemishes, scratches, dents, or any other signs of hard use. We measured the paint with a meter, and it is all original as it left the factory. The roof is the body color but has been wrapped in white vinyl to give it some contracts. The vinyl can easily be removed. The custom wheels look fantastic and between the color and style, they give the Jeep a vintage look. They are wearing near-new/full tread BF Goodrich KO2 tires including the spare. The brakes are also near full life. All the glass, including the windshield, are original and wearing their factory stampings. They’ve all been tinted including the windshield to help protect the interior. All the exterior lights and winch all work properly.
The interior is equally as fresh and like-new as the exterior. There are no signs of excessive wear. The leather seats have no tears, rips, or any other scuffs. The carpet is free of stains or signs of wear. The door panels look perfect with no blemishes. The doors, top, and windshield have never been removed or folded down. All the gauges work properly. The upgraded red switches and grab handles are a nice accent and useful if the next person does end up taking this Rubicon off-road. All the gauges, interior lights, electric switches, A/C, and any other control work like new.
California registration is current to July of 2021.
This Jeep comes with two master keys, original owner’s manuals with case cover, original MSRP/window sticker, full-size spare, control for the winch, mesh outside vinyl trash bag, tow straps from TeraFlex, jack, mount for jack due to lift, fog light covers, Dirt Bagz storage (2), divided vinyl trunk storage, original airbox/intake, extra aluminum Factor thimble, extra original interior grab handles (black), mesh Bimini top for when the hardtop is removed, and heavy-duty rubber floor mats including the trunk.
**Note: VIN and other numbers withheld to protect against fraud. All numbers including VIN, Engine, and color will be provided to serious buyers.
Is that Mt. Kilimanjaro behind the Target parking lot?
We may never get to the destinations we dream about, but sometimes just sitting behind the wheel of a special vehicle and imagining that you were using it as intended is good enough.
In 2015 at the Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, Jeep unveiled their Wrangler African Safari Concept. It was a huge hit. Here’s what it looked like:
Hmm…notice a similarity? It’s not by coincidence. When this concept was shown, the Jeep community went into a frenzy. Alas, they didn’t produce it. I guess that segment is already pretty crowded with the umpteen special editions they already make.
As the JL model of the Jeep was ending its decade long run, the owner of this Jeep was frantic to get one of the last ones in the same color combo as the concept unveiled a year earlier. It took months to find that right new one. Finally, his Orange County Jeep dealer sourced one at their sister dealer in Palm Springs. It probably just blended in with the desert so the fleet manager couldn’t see it.
For the past several years, this owner has been busy modifying his Jeep to look the part rather than actually driving it. He’s traveled less than 12,000 miles over four years. He has taken it to the snow a couple times for skiing and on a couple of Jeep sponsored training events in our local mountains. Besides that, it spends most of the time on a battery tender in a car museum. Seriously, it lives in a museum.
I’m sure he still dreams of a driving his Jeep on a real African Safari. In fact, I bet when he pulls up to the dog park, he imagines he’s on the edge of a Kenyan savanna watching the great wildebeest migration.
