Many regard the 911 SC as among the best Porsches ever built. They are simple and pure, with a robust aluminum 3.0-liter short-stroke engine and a rust-resistant/galvanized chassis. This generation of 911 could easily be used as daily drivers, and most were. Combined with their robust reliability, most SCs have hundreds of thousands of miles on them.  The rest of world (RoW) models did not have catalytic converters.

This 911 was built for the German market and was ordered with the following factory options:

  • German Equipment
  • Leather Sport Steering Wheel
  • Black Roofliner
  • Tinted Windshield and Side Glass
  • Tinted/Heated Rear Window
  • Power Windows
  • Headlight Trims in Exterior Color

Factory-correct “Tombstone” style leather sport seats were sourced and fitted by the most recent owner.

We believe this 911 spent most of its life in Toronto, Canada.  The earliest record is from 1994 and shows the car was owned by Bob Yoneda of Scarborough, Ontario.  During his care, besides routine maintenance, he installed an auxiliary oil cooler as well as new ball joints.  Bob sold the car in 2002 to Michael Maurer of Richmond Hill, Ontario.  Michael appears to be an avid enthusiast based on the parts order receipts.  He went into a heavy nesting phase during the first few years, installing new exhaust, shifter, and routine services.  By around 2015, he was only driving it under 1,000 miles a year.  Regardless, he still serviced it regularly.  Michael sold it to his neighbor, who turned around in a very short time and sold it to the current owner from Portland, Oregon, on January 23rd, 2020, with 65,997 km (40,918 mi) on the odometer.  For the past 5 years, this owner has added about 6k miles of fun weekend driving.

  • Full detail
  • Wet sand, cut, and polish areas needed
  • Steam clean engine and underside
  • Touch up paint on small chips/scratches
  • New hood shocks
  • Fresh oil service
  • Brake fluid flush
  • New transmission mounts

The exterior of this 911SC is in very good condition.  The paint looks great and appears to be an older repaint in the original color, most likely due to issues with the silver metallic clearcoat of the era.  There are no signs of any prior damage or repairs.  The paint quality was good and has held up over the past decades.  There are some scratches on the front bumper, which have been touched up.  The trim has been painted, and the light lenses have no major cracks.  The front passenger side turn signal has been upgraded with an oil cooler air scoop.  The original turn signal unit has been saved.  The glass has no major cracks or chips and appears to be original except for the windshield.  The window trim and door handles have been painted silver.  The lower rear valance was removed to fit the center sport exhaust, but the panel has been saved.  New Fuchs-style Maxilite wheels (16×7 and 16×8) have been installed with Yokohama A008P tires with under half-life remaining.  They were installed in 2020 and have about 6k miles on them with no signs of age or rot.  An extra set of wheels is available, which are 16×7 factory Fuchs and reproduction Fuchs-style 16×9 wheels (Xenon Type-P).  They have been powder-coated in grey.*  The brake system is nearly new and has about 75% life remaining.

The interior is very tidy and sport-purpose focused.  The leather sport seats were sourced and installed by the current owner.  They have no tears or rips and some light wear on the driver-side exit bolster.  The slide and tilt properly.  The carpet was replaced with an RS-style lightweight Perlon kit, which has no major stains or heavy wear marks.  The rear seats have been removed and are no longer available.  The headliner is in good shape with no sagging and a small tear near passenger side.  The headliner lights do not work.  The door panels have been converted to lightweight RS-style ones with an early S-inspired door pocket.  The dash has no cracks or significant warping.  All the gauges work.  The clock has been changed to a Heuer-branded face, which works.  The original clock is included.  The power windows work.  The passenger side mirror was not ordered powered, and the driver’s power mirror does not work.  The heating and ventilation system work.

This SC starts easily on the first try.  The power is impressively strong throughout the rev range.  There is no hesitation to the red line.  The handling is crisp and precise.  It tracks straight and easily absorbs the road imperfections while being very connected on the turns.  The transmission is spectacular with the upgraded gear ratios, LSD, and WEVO shifter.  It’s a shotgun-action, precise with no grinding or slipping.  It encourages you to find excuses to shift.  The brakes have an excellent bite with no fading or pulling.

This 911 comes with 2 keys, owner’s manual with vinyl cover, factory German service centers, Blaupunkt radio manual, period Blaupunkt radio (removed), original clock, service receipts going back to 1994, all recent engine/transmission rebuild receipts, driver side front bumper turn signal, laminated Porsche COA, original rear bumper lower valance, tool kit, jack, and space saver spare.

*An extra set of wheels is available for an additional fee.  They are a pair of 16×7 factory Fuchs as well as a pair of 16×9 reproduction Fuchs-style wheels (by Xenon Type-P).  They have been powder-coated in grey.

I’d rally this!

We’ve all played that game of what would be the perfect 2-car garage or what’s the ideal daily driver.

I play the game, “I’d rally that!”

With one rip on a local freeway cloverleaf, I knew this Rest of World 911SC spoke my love language.

I found myself needlessly going up and down the shortened gears to hear the rasp of the high-compression 3.0L engine.

Each time we get in a car that grabs me, The Ed can see that sparkle in my eye.

He usually says in a mocking tone, “Is this one going to be part of our AutoKennel Museum?”

Unfortunately, I can’t, but maybe a thorough test drive to Good Vibes Breakfast club at Newcomb’s Ranch off Angeles Crest Highway is in order. 😉
