The 2002 model year was nearing the production end and was considered the one that resolved all prior issues. A new wishbone suspension was introduced to reduce the premature wear of ball joints. The 3.6L DOHC V8 produces 400 hp with an 8,500 RPM redline. The power top opens or closes in 20 seconds.
This 360 was built in June of 2002 and sold new on August 20th, 2002, by Ferrari of San Antonio, Texas. It was ordered with the following specifications:
- Rosso Corso
- Nero Connolly Leather
- Red Brake Calipers
- Scuderia Ferrari Fender Shields
- Power Seats
- 6 CD Changer
- Michelin Tires
- Challenge Style Rear Grill (Dealer Added)
Items available for purchase separately include:
- Capristo Exhaust
- Stradale Rims
- Carbon Fiber Interior Trim
The current owner purchased these parts new in 2004 for around $20k.
The first owner was from Wimberley, Texas. This owner only kept it for 17 months and 206 miles before selling it to the Current Orange County enthusiast via Ferrari of Newport Beach, California, on February 24th, 2004, with 543 miles. This owner paid over $200k at the time. Furthermore, he purchased new Stradale wheels, factory carbon fiber interior trim, and a Capristo exhaust. They were only on the car for a few thousand miles before he removed the parts and boxed them up*. They are available for purchase separately, and the buyer of this 360 has the first right of refusal.

This owner took meticulous care of his Ferrari with regular service at the dealer as well as always keeping it in the garage covered. As a result, the condition is spectacular. Initially, he wanted to purchase a Challenge Stradale, but he had to purchase this first. He never planned to keep it for over 2 decades. However, he liked it more than he thought he would. As his collection has moved towards vintage special Porsches, he’s using this 360 less.
The exterior is in superb condition with minimal signs of use or flaws. The paint appears to be original with no major chips, scratches, or any other kind of damage. The paint has recently been polished and sealed. All the exterior lights and lenses are in good shape and work. The factory PPF near the side intakes and fender edges is still in decent shape with slight discoloration. The soft top has no major wrinkles or wear marks, and the rear plastic window is clear with no discoloration. The engine cover glass is also in good shape with no major scratches. The glass is all original, including the windshield, and the factory stampings are present. The factory wheels have no significant curb rash and are wearing Pirelli tires installed 7 years/2,500, dated 2017, with half tread remaining. The brake pads are at about half-life as well.
The interior is equally as nice and indicative of a low-mile/well-cared-for example. The leather seats show minimal signs of use with no tears or cracks. The soft top headliner is also in good shape. The carpet has no stains or heavy wear marks. The door panels look new. The dash has no cracks or other issues. All the gauges work properly. The sticky-button issue has been resolved, and they look new. The power top, windows, and mirrors all work properly. The A/C system blows cold, and the radio works properly.
California registration is paid through February of 2026 and it passes California’s strict smog/emission testing.
This Ferrari comes with 2 main keys, owner’s manuals in leather cover, indoor Ferrari satin-style car cover, Interstate battery tender with hard-wired mount behind driver seat, original Ferrari of Newport Beach license plate frame, jack in canvas bag with leather straps, tool kit in leather case, and 53 pages of Ferrari service receipts.
*Note: Capristo Exhaust, Stradale Rims, and Carbon Fiber Interior Trim are available for purchase separately.
**Note: VIN and other numbers withheld to protect against fraud. All numbers including VIN, Engine, and color will be provided to serious buyers.
Buying a Ferrari in the 2000s was notoriously difficult.
The “Ferrari buying game” was in full effect during this era.
Buyers were forced to purchase cars they didn’t want just for the slight hope of, perchance, getting the opportunity to possibly be offered what they actually wanted sometime in the maybe future.
Naive to this game, the owner of this 360 Spider F1 walked into Ferrari of Newport Beach in January of 2004 to purchase a new or even possibly used Challenge Stradale.
He was even OK settling for a Berlinetta gated manual so long as it wasn’t red with a black interior.
Instead was he was “allowed” to purchase this lightly used Spider F1 in Rosso Corso with black interior…exactly opposite of what he wanted.
For fear of being blacklisted by Ferrari, he kept this 360 for the past 21+ years and he ALWAYS serviced it at the selling dealership, despite the steep prices.
This was an era where urban myths of Ferrari forcing owners to sell their cars back or even legal action circulated at local Cars & Coffee like salacious office cooler chat.
