The 991 made big strides in performance and comfort over the outgoing 997 model. In particular, the C2S cabriolet boasted an all-new 400-hp motor with bigger brakes, torque vectoring, aerodynamic upgrades, and lower ride height. However, one of their biggest improvements was the new soft top. For nearly 40 years, the 911 soft top has been a traditional construction and operation. Although the 991 soft top looks similar, it is significantly different. It is constructed of 3 concealed semi-rigid lightweight panels that give the top a smoother look and provide a better seal and rigidity. The result is that it looks and feels more like a coupe when the top is up while providing more durability.
This C2S was custom ordered in May of 2014, and built in June of 2013. It was delivered new on July 20th, 2014 at Newport Beach Porsche and specified with the following factory options:
- Luxor Beige Leather
- Guards Red
- Instrument Dials in Black
- Sport Exhaust System
- Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) Transmission

This owner has been a long-time Porsche enthusiast and an active member of our local PCA Orange Coast chapter. He owned a red 356 cabriolet back in the late ‘60s, but sold it to start a family. 45 years later, he decided to re-enter the Porsche world by special ordering this Carrera S to match his 356 he sold so many years ago. For the last 12 years, he has used this Cabriolet for a host of PCA events as well as several road trips to visit family in Oregon and Wyoming. After purchasing this 991, he went on to acquire a club member’s 911SC (Guards Red, of course), a 993, and a Cayenne. For the past several years, he’s found it harder to get in and out of his C2S and is driving it less. Regardless of the miles, as an engineer, he was always on top of the service needs and had most of the work performed at our local Porsche dealer. His service history includes:

The exterior of this 911 is in great shape with minimal signs of use. The paint appears to be all original and verified with a paint meter. There are no major flaws. The front lower spoiler/bumper has some minor scuffs from parking curbs/driveways. The glass is all original, including the windshield, with no major chips or cracks. All the factory glass stampings are present. The wheels are in good shape with a couple of spots of minor curb rash. They are wearing Pirelli PZero N0 (Porsche specific rated) tires with more than half-life left and the brakes are completely new with full life.
The interior is equally nice and indicative of a well-kept Porsche. The heated/ventilated sport seats have no significant flaws or other signs of major wear. The back seats look unused. The carpet has no stains or excess wear marks. The door panels are in good shape. The driver door panel is pulling slightly near the top, but has been repaired. This is epidemic with all 991.1 examples. The dash has no cracks or other issues. The soft-top headliner looks perfect with no tears or other issues. All the gauges, buttons, switches, and other electrical functions work properly. The convertible top mechanism works properly as well. The A/C system blows cold.
This Carrera S drives very tight and like new. It starts easily and has great power throughout the rev range. There are no lights on the dash. The convertible top opens and closes with the touch of a button. The brakes are new and feel perfect with excellent initial bite and no fading. The PDK transmission shifts easily between the gears with no hesitation. The handling is crisp and responsive, yet compliant over uneven road surfaces. This S can easily be driven daily and would be a treat on a road trip.

“Buy your Porsche now and do not wait until you are old.”
In 1968, shortly before serving in the U.S. Army, David finished his Master’s in Engineering and bought a used 1965 Porsche 356C Cabriolet in red with a black top and tan interior.
He sold it in 1975 after beginning his career in the California energy business and starting a family.
38 years later and after 3 kids, 3 sets of college tuition, several moves, and 4 grandchildren, his family urged him to buy a new Porsche.
In May 2013, he went to Newport Beach Porsche and custom ordered this Carrera S Cabriolet in the same color combination as his old 356.
This 911 introduced him to our local PCA Orange Coast region where he became an active member and even purchased a 993 Cabriolet (already sold) and a 911SC coupe (stay tuned as that might be for sale too).
He even took a European Porsche vacation and factory tour with his wife.
He was mainlining the Porsche drug!
When interviewed for our local PCA magazine, he said, “Buy your Porsche now and do not wait until you are old. Porsches are life changing and good for your health.”
