The Audi R8 was launched as a completely new vehicle for Audi in 2006 and came to North America as a 2008 model. The first-generation (Type 42) V8 model (2008-2012) saw only 1,500-2000 approximate units delivered to the U.S. with the gated 6-speed manual transmission. The R8 was completely designed, developed, and manufactured by Audi Sport GmbH. This subsidiary of Audi AG is known for its obsessive quality demands. Based on the Lamborghini Gallardo, the car is built around Audi’s aluminum monocoque. With its 420hp 4.2L V8 naturally aspirated engine, rear-wheel-biased Quattro AWD system, and good weight balance, Jacky Ickx (6-time 24 Hours of Le Mans winner) described the R8 as “the best handling road car today.”
This Audi was built on October 7th, 2008, and sold new on November 15th, 2008, by Carlsen Audi of Palo Alto, California. It was ordered with the following factory options:

The first owner was a mature enthusiast from Carmel-by-the-Sea, California. This owner kept this R8 for the following 14 years and 7,400 miles. The car was serviced at either the selling Audi dealer or at the Porsche + Audi dealer in Monterey, California. Besides normal routine maintenance/service, the fuel rail was replaced in 2014 at 6,600 miles. Just before being sold in March of 2022, the Audi dealer performed a 10k-mile service as well as mounted and balanced a new set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires at 7,400 miles.

Gregory sold the car to the current Los Angeles enthusiast on March 6th, 2025, with 13,940 miles. For the past 18 months, this owner has added just over 3k miles of mostly weekend driving. As an engineer, this owner enjoys working on his cars and has performed the following services:
- Removed aftermarket front lip and installed factory front spoiler (4/25 @ 14,335 miles)
- Oil service using factory filter and Motul 8100 5w40 (7/25 @ 15,048 miles)

The exterior of this R8 is in excellent condition and what you’d expect for a low-mileage, garage-kept example. The paint appears to be all original and verified with a paint meter. It shows minimal wear, with no significant chips, scratches, or dents. There is no PPF or signs of prior PPF. The trim and light lenses have no cracks or other signs of age. The glass is all original, including the windshield, and has the proper factory stampings. There are no major flaws on the glass. The wheels are wearing their original finish with no major curb rash and are wearing Michelin 4S tires that were installed 4 years/10k miles ago. They appear to have just over a third of their life remaining. The brakes have about 75% life remaining with no lips on the rotors.
The interior is equally as nice and also indicative of a low-mileage preserved example. The leather seats have no tears or heavy wear marks. There is some light typical wear on the driver exit bolster. The thresholds are in good shape with some light driver-side scuffs. The rear cargo net is pulled up from one corner. The headliner has no tears or sagging issues. The door panels look good with no blemishes. The carpet is in good shape with no heavy wear marks or stains. The driver floor mat shows a slight bit of wear due to the light color. The dash has no warping or cracks. All the gauges work properly, as do the power mirrors, windows, and seats. The A/C system blows cold, and the factory Bang & Olufsen sound system works as it should. There are no issues with the digital display pixels.
This Audi feels and drives very tight and like new. It starts easily and pulls hard throughout the rev range. The power is strong with immediate throttle response. The handling is very compliant on uneven surfaces and confidence-inspiring on twisty roads. The steering is direct, and the car tracks straight. The brakes have excellent bite with no fading or pulling. The gated shifter makes a pleasant sound as it clicks between gears. There is no grinding and shifting is smooth. The clutch engages properly with no slipping.
This Audi R8 has current California registration paid to March of 2027, and it passes California’s strict smog test.
Included with this R8 are 1 main switchblade key, 1 valet key, 1 emergency key, owner’s manuals/books with soft carrier, maintenance booklet, some/recent service receipts, flat tire repair kit, tow hook, wheel locks with socket, tool kit, air compressor, extra power steering fluid, and tools to help jack up the car.
