I say this over and over again: If you love what you do and you are passionate about it, you will always be successful. David Beattie, a friend of the AutoKennel, truly exemplifies this mantra.
When I first checked out David’s company, Slot Mods (www.slotmods.com), I found myself in awe. I was instantly lusting to get my hands on one of his tracks. Apparently, I wasn’t the only one. Audi hired Slot Mods to build a custom display. In the process, Supplemental Films created a great documentary on the building of this display called “Painting Coconuts.”
Damn, why did I see this? I can’t undo what I’ve already seen. My life was fine before Slot Mods. I didn’t need a slot car track. The last one I had was over 35 years ago. I haven’t thought about it since. Now, I’m possessed itroymanagement.com. I want one of his tracks…scratch that, I NEED one of his tracks.
Well, David must have heard my cry. He emailed me to offer a track on loan. I must have read the email a dozen times. YES! BRING IT!
It gets even better. David has offered to share some of his amazing experiences in person when he unveils the track at the AutoKennel sometime this summer. The track that will be displayed is a tribute to the great Laguna Seca raceway. Stay tuned for more details.
