2016 Porsche 981 Boxster Spyder Original Paint / 6-Speed Manual Carbon Buckets

Although on paper it sounds like the Spyder is a bit of a parts bin car with the 3.8L engine from the Carrera S and the suspension from the 991 GT3, it was a considerable engineering feat for Porsche’s skunkworks division, headed by Andreas Preuninger.  His team of brilliant engineers once again created a home run with the second iteration of the Boxster Spyder.  Plus, its soft top is much easier to use than that of the previous generation.  Who wouldn’t want a 2,899 lb/375 hp back road street weapon that is just as comfortable on the track as it is cruising PCH?  Of the 2,486 981 Spyders built, 829 came to North America and of those, only 42 were ordered in Agate Grey.  Furthermore, approximately 9 Agate Grey cars were ordered with the carbon buckets.

This Spyder was built in February 2016 and sold new on May 24^th, 2016 by Porsche of Beachwood, Ohio.

The total MSRP was $101,490.

The entire body (painted surfaces) appears to have been protected with PPF (Paint Protection Film) prior to the current owner’s purchase.

The first owner was from Chagrin Falls, Ohio.  That owner kept the Spyder for just over two years and 3k miles before trading it back into the original selling dealership in August of 2018.  They serviced it and sold it on October 15^th, 2018, to the next local owner from Painesville, Ohio.  That owner kept the car for 3 years and added another 7k miles.  During that owner’s care, it was serviced annually at the local Porsche dealer.  Services included:

• Oil service, brake fluid flush, all fluids checked, inspection (9/19 @ 7,165 miles)
• Major service including spark plugs and cabin air filter (7/20 @ 8,696 miles)
• Oil service, brake flush, air filter, inspection (8/21 @ 10,249 miles)

In September of 2021, the 2^nd owner traded the car back into the original selling Porsche dealer with 10,387 miles.  They performed a service and inspection before selling it on October 5^th, 2021 to the current Southern California owner.  For the past 2½ years/3,500 miles, the current owner has lightly used this Spyder for local weekend driving.  He took it to his local Porsche dealer in June of 2023 at 13,032 miles for a 6-year/60k mile service, which included:

We just took the car to our mechanic for a new Interstate battery and DME over-rev report. (5/24 @ 13,914 miles)

This car has zero hits on any of the 6 ranges, which is remarkable.  Over its life, it has averaged only 33mph in total.  Between this and the condition of the tires, it’s clear that this Spyder has never been tracked or driven hard.

The exterior of this Spyder is exceptional with minimal signs of use.  The paint appears to be all original as verified with a paint meter.  The entire painted exterior is protected with PPF that was installed prior to this owner’s purchase.  It appears to be a very high-quality job and is nearly invisible.  The film also protects the headlights.  There are no significant chips, scratches, or dents that I could see.  The soft top is in good shape with a few light discoloration spots from the understructure.  There are no tears or heavy wear signs on the canvas top and its operation is quick and simple.  The factory wheels have no curb rash and are wearing the original Pirelli tires dated 2016.  There are no signs of age or cracking, and the fronts have about half-life remaining while the rears are just over a third remaining.  The brakes have 75% life remaining on the front and about half or more on the rear.

The interior is equally as nice with no signs of significant wear.  The carbon buckets look great with no heavy wear that’s typical with carbon buckets.  The carpet, door panels, and canvas top headliner all look new.  The dash is perfect and all the gauges work properly.  All the electrical functions including windows, a/c, radio, etc. work properly.

This Spyder drives like new.  Everything feels tight and responsive.  It starts easily with no hesitation.  The brakes have excellent bite with no fading.  The power is strong throughout the rev range.  The handling is crisp and the car tracks straight.  The transmission shifts smoothly through all the gears and the clutch engages properly with no slipping.  It is clear that based on the physical condition, driving feedback, and DME report that this Spyder has never been abused and always been well cared for.

This Spyder has current California registration to October of 2024 and it passes California’s strict smog/emissions test.

This Porsche comes with 2 main keys, original owner’s manuals with carry case, maintenance booklet with stamps, laminated dealer window sticker, original tool kit, tire repair kit, front license plate mount, plexiglass windscreen, mesh windscreen, and factory satin-style indoor car cover.
