When the 997 Porsche (the 5th generation of the 911) was launched, it was lauded for being truer to the original 911 design than previous generations. The wide fenders and separate headlight buckets make the car look like a natural continuation of the 993. For the introduction of the 997, Porsche custom-specified a handful of cars for key dealers as a “Launch Edition.” These cars usually had better and more unique options; this example is no different.
This Porsche was built in June of 2004 and delivered new by Porsche of North Scottsdale in Arizona on September 1st, 2004. It was special-ordered with the following factory options:
- U.S Emissions
- Automatically Dimming Interior and Exterior Mirrors
- Heated Seats
- 19” Carrera S Wheels
- Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB)
- Sport Chrono Package Plus
- Navigation Module for PCM
- Bose Surround Sound System
- Black Full Leather Interior
- Adaptive Sport Seats
The MSRP was $98,505, equivalent to $164,419 in today’s dollars.
The first owner of this 997 was the Dealer Principal of Porsche of North Scottsdale. The dealer kept it as a show/marketing piece for about a year before selling it on July 22nd, 2005 with 5,348 miles to a Scottsdale resident. This owner kept the car for over 10 years and added only 16,000 miles, while regularly servicing it at the selling Porsche dealer. He then sold it to Porsche of Woodland Hills, CA at the end of 2015. This Porsche dealer performed a full service, including cleaning the fuel system, before selling it to an enthusiast from Laguna Niguel, California on December 6th, 2015 with 21,193 miles. This owner only kept the car a year and added 5,000 miles before selling it to the current Orange County owner on October 17th, 2016 with 26,146 miles.
For the past 8 years, this owner has added just shy of 4,000 miles on this C2S. He used it lightly on weekends if the weather was agreeable. He serviced it regularly with James at Redline in Orange, California. He was fastidious about service and preventative maintenance, regardless of miles. Services during his care include:
- Pre-purchase inspection and oil service (10/16 @ 25,808 miles)
- Purchased custom indoor car cover (11/16)
- IMS bearing update, clutch, and misc. services (1/18 @ 26,664 miles)

The exterior of this Carrera S is spectacular and shows minimal signs of use. The paint appears to be original and verified with a paint meter. All the exterior lights/lenses are in good shape and work properly. The glass is all original, including the windshield, and wears the proper factory stampings. There are no significant chips or scratches. The upgraded custom HRE Wheels are in near-perfect condition with no significant curb rashes or other blemishes. The original wheels have been polished and are available in exchange for the HREs, or for an additional fee*. The wheels are wearing Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires that were installed 5 years/2,000 miles ago and have about half their life remaining. The ceramic brakes appear to be near full-life remaining.
The full leather interior further showcases the low miles and fastidious ownership care as there are minimal signs of use. The adaptive sport seats have no excessive signs of wear with no major cracks. The rear seats look unused. The headliner is perfect with no tears, stains, or sagging. The carpet has no signs of excessive wear or stains. The door panels look new as does the dash. All the gauges work properly as well as the interior lights. The factory radio, power windows, mirrors, and sunroof all work. The A/C system blows cold as well.
This Carrera S starts easily and holds an even idle. The power delivery is strong throughout the rev range. The transmission shifts smoothly through the gears with no grinding or slipping of the clutch. The brakes have an excellent bite with no fading or pulling. The handling is responsive while easily handling road imperfections. This example drives tight and as you would expect for a low-mile example.
This Porsche will pass California emissions/smog testing.
This Carrera S comes with 2 main keys, owner’s manuals with vinyl case, original maintenance
booklet with dealer stamps/option sticker, recent service records, original IMS bearing, custom
