The 991 made big strides in performance as well as comfort over the outgoing 997 model.  In particular, the C2S cabriolet boasted an all-new 400-hp motor with bigger brakes, torque vectoring, aerodynamic upgrades, and lower ride height.  However, one of their biggest improvements was the new soft top.  For nearly 40-years, the 911 soft top has been a traditional construction and operation.  Although the 991 soft top looks similar, it is significantly different.  It is constructed of 3-concealed semi-rigid lightweight panels that not only give the top a smoother look, but also provides a better seal and rigidity.  The result is it looks and feels more like a coupe when the top is up while providing more durability.

This C2S was built in February of 2013 and delivered to Porsche of South Bay in  Hawthorne, California as a dealership display/executive model.  It was delivered with the following factory options:

The exterior of this Carrera S is in superb condition with minimal signs of use.  The paint is all original as verified by a paint meter.  There are no significant paint chips, scratches, or dents.  The headlight surrounds have some light blemishes possibly due to prior clear headlight protective film.  You have to be within inches to notice it.  The soft top is in good shape with no tears or rips.  There are a couple normal spots of wear as well as a few loose stitches on a seam.  However, the top operates and seals properly.  The glass is all original, including the windshield, and wears the proper factory stampings.  All the VIN decals on the body panels are present.  The wheels have no significant curb rash or blemishes and are wearing Porsche-spec (N0) Pirelli PZero tires.  The front tires were replaced 5 years/20k miles ago and have slightly more than a third-life remaining while the rear tires were replaced 2 years/3k miles ago and have over 75% life remaining.  The front brake pads have approximately half-life remaining while the rear brake pads are just above half-life.  There are no significant lips on the rotors.

The interior is equally as nice with minimal signs of use.  It is clear this was a conscientious owner who took great care not to scuff the interior as well as having it detailed regularly.  The leather sport seats are in great shape with no tears, stains, or any other significant wear.  The rear seats look unused.  The soft top headliner has no sagging issues or tears.  The door panels are in great shape and are not separating from the door, which is a common issue.  The carpet is in great shape with no heavy wear marks or stains and the floor mats look relatively new.  The dash is perfect.  All the gauges work properly as do the buttons and electrical controls.  The full-power soft top opens and closes properly.  Sometimes the rear windows don’t go up and down automatically, but the electric switch to control them works properly.  The A/C system blows cold and the Bose sound system sounds great.  This example is bone stock and unmodified from new.

This 991 C2S drives fantastically.  In fact, there is no noticeable driving difference between this example and a new one.  Everything feels tight and responsive with no rattles or other issues.  It starts easily and has excellent throttle response with no hesitation throughout the rev range.  The handling is crisp and responsive in all the driving modes.  The car tracks straight and is compliant on uneven road surfaces while also confidence-inspiring on a twisty road.  The brakes operate properly with excellent initial bite and no fading or pulling.  The dual-clutch transmission fires gear changes quickly with no issues.  I can’t find any fault in the driving experience of this well-maintained local 911.

California registration is paid to October 26th, 2024 and it passes California’s strict smog test.

This Porsche comes with 2 main keys (battery in spare needs replacing), most service records, extra set of floor mats (all 4), front license plate bracket, owner’s manuals with vinyl case, wheel lock key, tire repair kit, air compressor, and small tool kit.

You know, you can drive your 911 daily.  It’s OK.

It’s very easy to relegate your Porsche 911 to sparse weekend use only.

I too used to fret about driving my 911 with “regular civilian” traffic…God forbid mixing in with weekday commuters on our local SoCal parking lot freeway.

Each time I experience a late model Porsche 911 (for me, that’s anything from 1999 and newer), I’m in awe at how good they are at regular everyday driving.

The local Orange County owner of this 911 is not one of us.  He doesn’t hang out at Cars & Coffee gatherings.  He doesn’t show it off at his local PCA Concours.

He commutes to work in it.  He goes to the golf course in it.  He goes shopping in it.  He goes to dinner with his spouse in it.  He uses it as his actual car.

How many of you drive a 911 every day and use it as just a great daily driver?

I’m guessing it’s a small number of our audience.

I hereby give you permission to use your 911 as a car.  In fact, I challenge you to drive your 911 (regardless of how old or new it is) as your daily driver for the next week.  Let me know how it goes.
